We requesting a number, whether it be a new one from our pools, or porting in, we will request associated address information for the EHA (Emergency Handling Authority). This ensures that should a 999 call be made from that number an associated address will be seen by the call handler. Our address book handles entries, making it easier to re-apply the same locational details across multiple numbers. Should any of the details change, you simply need to update the contact, and all associated numbers will use the new location information.
When placing calls, you choose to present a number which isn’t controlled by ourselves. It is not acceptable under any circumstances to use Optua to place calls to 999 where the number has been issued by another VoIP provider / OLO (“Other Licensed Operator”) and where address data has not been submitted to the EHA. As such it is imperative that you ensure that address details are held and correct prior to applying any number presentation changes. Optua reserves the right to pass across any penalty charges which may result from missing or misleading data.
Accounts and trunks that have ‘access codes’ enabled, will now be able to route the non-emergency Police (101), non-emergency NHS (111), Covid-19 response line (119) and power cut (105) numbers. Your call will be routed appropriately based on the caller ID that is passed. If the CLI isn’t suitable (e.g. a non-geographic number), a robot will ask the caller for the postcode.Region-specific 101 numbers: https://www.police.uk/contact/#alternative-numbers
